Bertha M. Whitley

Bertha M. Whitley died at home on August 22, 2016. She was born in Berlin Heights, Ohio on January 1, 1925. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-three years, Victor Whitley, her beloved daughter, Deborah Genovese, her parents, Ivah M. and Lawrence A. Robertson, her brothers, Max and Robert A. Robertson, and her grandson-in-law, Mark C. Gibson. She grew up in Norwalk, Ohio and attended the University of Cincinnati. She is a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James C. and Georgiana Whitley, grandson, Peter W. Genovese, granddaughters, Kristina Gibson and Victoria Wilkens (Aaron), and her great grandchildren, Grace and Benjamin Gibson and Kennedy and Adalaide Wilkens. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and interment of ashes will be at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in New Canaan, CT at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Blount County Animal Shelter or the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center.
