Betty Nell Hitch Headrick, 78, of Maryville, Tennessee passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at her home. She was born and spent her entire life on the family farm that later became Wallace Hills Golf Course which was always so very dear to her. Betty Nell grew up in the Fairview Community, graduated from Maryville High School, and attended Maryville College. She married her high school sweetheart, Charlie Headrick, and earlier this month, she was able to celebrate sixty years of marriage, surrounded by friends and family. She was an avid golfer and tennis player and later enjoyed watching all sports. Betty Nell was preceded in death by her parents R.H. "Pete" and Kathleen Wallace Hitch. She was survived by husband, Charles R. Headrick, and their three children and spouses Hal and Leanita Headrick, Jan and Eric Herzbrun, Larry and Susan Headrick; Six grandchildren Lee Herzbrun, Taylor Headrick (Amanda), Alicia Herzbrun, Bo Headrick, Jake Headrick, and Lauren Headrick; Brother, Bob W. Hitch (Laverne), sister, Eleanor "Butch" Greene (Ben), sister-in-law, Erma Lee Glasow, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 27 at Grandview Cemetery for the burial. The Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church, where she was a lifetime member. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall. Betty Nell was loved by many and will be remembered as one who lived life joyfully. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairview United Methodist Church Music Program or the Sparkplug Scholarship Fund at Fairview United Methodist Church.
