Bill Harless

December 17, 1933 — March 21, 2020

Bill Harless, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on March 21st, 2020. He was preceeded in death by parents, Gene and Sarah Harless and siblings Jack Harless, Pat Garvin, Donnie Williams, Sally Cupp and Frank Harless. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sara Lind Toole Harless, his daughter Debbie Shields and son in-law David, his son David Harless and his grandchildren Israel and Kelli Peltz and Ivey and Mark Williamson. He is also survived by siblings Vickie Kidd, Tony Harless, Jimmy Harless, Phyllis Neil, Charlotte Burnsmier, Kathy Morton and Fran Murphy.

He was a member of Clover Hill Presbyterian Church where some of his acts of service through the years included President of Men’s Council, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher and Session member. Bill loved his time serving his community as a county commissioner and also enjoyed time spent in other countries with Germany being his favorite. In retirement, from Tennessee Air National Guard, he volunteered with the Sheriff’s department offering his services wherever he could be used. He also loved raising cattle and working on his farm. He dearly loved his family and was especially blessed by his grandchildren. A graveside service will be at Clover Hill Presbyterian Church on Monday at 12:00 with Rev. Roy F. Scarbrough officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clover Hill Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 4877, Maryville, TN 37802.
