Billy Jack ''Buddy'' Gilbert

December 6, 1931 — August 15, 2008

Gilbert, Billy Jack, “Buddy”, age 76 of Alcoa, passed away Friday, August 15, 2008, at his home. He was a member of Middlesettlements United Methodist Church, a graduate of Maryville High School, Maryville College and a retired teacher and coach. He was an avid sports fan, loved nature, reading and poetry. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Craig Gilbert; father, Earl Green; mother, Mabel Coulter Green. Survivors include his wife, Peggie Gilbert; son, C. Coulter (Bud) Gilbert; daughter, Joni Cannon and husband Roger; stepdaughters, Cindy Alloway and husband Bobby, LuJean Buckner and husband Tim and, LeAnn Moore and husband Todd; grandchildren, Sara Cannon, Leah Cannon, Abby Buckner, Charlton Buckner, Maggie Jane Moore, Grace Moore, Eden Buckner, Anna Cate Alloway, Caroline Moore; brother, Edward Green and wife Judy of Maryville; special friend, Bob Gilbert; special aunts, Gladys Caldwell, Flossie Gilbert. A memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday at Middlesettlements United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Black and Rev. Rex Rogers officiating. A graveside and dedication service will follow in the Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Middlesettlements United Methodist Church Field of Dreams Fund, 2729 Middlesettlements Road, Maryville, TN 37801.
