Charles A. Cobb

October 23, 1928 — June 24, 2004

Charles A. Cobb, age 75 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Maryville Healthcare Center. He was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and on various committees, he retired as a Master Sgt. from McGhee Tyson Air Base, TN Air National Guard with 38 years of service as Material Control Clerk/Supply Technician and was veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Berlin Crisis. Mr. Cobb served as Master of Prudential Lodge No. 719, Alcoa, TN, High Priest of the Maryville Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, Master of Pride Council of Royal and Select Masons, and Commander of Cyprus Commandery, Knights Templar, Knoxville, TN. He was elected to membership in Knights of York Cross of Honor on March 21, 1995. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Martha P. Cobb; son, Joe D. Cobb of Hernando, MS; brother and wife, James and Imogene Cobb of Maryville; sister and husband, Jack and Martha Sharp; devoted brothers and sisters-in-law, Lucein Graves of Alcoa, Dr. Paul and Lois Burgess of Baxter, TN, Gordon and Bettie Sue Presley of Cookeville, TN, Fred and Michele Burgess of Trafalgar, IN, Ted and Linda Burgess of Silver Point, TN; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at New Providence Presbyterian Church with Dr. Emily Anderson officiating. The interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Westminster Hall following the service. The family respectfully requests that no flowers, especially house plants, be sent. It is their wishes that memorials be made to the Alcoa City School Foundation, 524 Faraday Street, Alcoa, TN 37701; New Providence Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund, 703 W. Broadway, Maryville, TN 37801 or to the Shriner’s Cripple Childrens Hospital, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229.
