Charlotte Gwendolyn Stiles Gilley

May 10, 1926 — October 28, 2013

Charlotte Gwendolyn Stiles Gilley slipped peacefully into the presence of our Lord, Monday, October 28th, at Tennova Residential Hospice. She was born May 10, 1926 and was married to Paul W. Gilley for 62 years before his passing. Charlotte was also preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Oliver Stiles and Lonesome Georgia Barr Stiles; her sister, Rita June Stiles White; and her beloved grandson, Robert Eric Edmondson. She is survived by her daughters, Clara Edmondson; Linda (Larry) Everett and son Paul D. (Teresa) Gilley. She had seven remaining grandchildren; Wendy (Steve) Tittsworth, Carrie (Kevin) Craig, Leah (Jayson) Hines, Neal Everett, Natasha, Alex and Logan Gilley and fourteen great-grandchildren. She has six remaining siblings; Charles, Clayton, Robert and Dwight Stiles; Thelma Creech and Regina Blanton. Paul and Charlotte were members of more than one local Baptist church where they both served faithfully for years. Proverbs 31 describes our mother...The Virtuous Wife. ''Her worth is far above rubies...The heart of her husband trusts her...She willingly works with her hands...She rises while it is night to provide food for her family... She reaches out to the poor and needy...She sews and makes garments for herself and family...She speaks with wisdom and kindness...Her children rise up and call her blessed...'' Thank you, mother, for the Godly example of sacrificial giving you have been to us and for your unconditional love! There will be a private graveside service for immediate family members on Wednesday. Reverend Jayson Hines will be presiding. The family would like to especially thank the dedicated staff at Tennova Residential Hospice for loving our mother and giving her such tender care during these last months of her life. The family also asks that any memorials be made in her honor to KARM (Knox Area Rescue Ministries) at www.karm.org/ or to Area 15 Special Olympics c/o Blount County Parks and Recreation.
