David Victor Wilson

December 17, 1937 — December 29, 2015

David Victor Wilson, age 77, of Alcoa, formerly of Clearwater, Fla., passed away December 29. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, December 17, 1937. A retiree of Honeywell, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Institute of Technology and his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Michigan. His career was devoted to Honeywell's space program. He served as the lead system engineer on a device used by the astronauts for manually orienting the command module. He also served as the lead circuit analyst on a portion of the Apollo environmental control system. He was remembered by those who knew him as a quiet and highly intelligent thinker, with a kind and welcoming soul, and a man of many talents. He was an engineer by education, guitarist by passion, master woodworker, Mustang aficionado, and the best Margarita mixer in the south. He loved and cared for his family as well as friends. He welcomed everyone in his home and he thrived on the chaos that all the grandchildren brought. We will all miss him greatly. His family takes comfort in knowing that after spending his career helping mankind explore space, he is now exploring it first-hand with his wife by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Mary Wilson; his beloved wife of 48 years, Pat Wilson; and his brother, Phil Wilson. He is survived by his daughters Christine, Alyssa, and Kelley; grandchildren Ella, Wilson, Lainey and Lia; brothers Steve and Tim Wilson; sisters-in-law Kathy, Suzanne, Mary, and Phyllis; brothers-in-law, John and Curtis; nieces and nephews Andrea, Michael, Michelle, Katie, Eric, Curtis, and Jeremy; and pets Rose, Lucy, and Scarlett.
