Florence Ross/Edgar Ross Florence Ann (Rasor) Ross, age 81, and Edgar Cecil Ross, age 82, of Maryville, TN, both passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006, at their home. Florence was born and raised near Leland, WA, and was graduated with her B.A. in English from the University of Washington in 1972. She was married to Edgar Cecil Ross on August 24, 1946. Florence was an avid reader with a passion for traveling. She also had a gift for needle work. Edgar was born and raised in Denver, CO. He served in the prestigious U.S. Army Band during WWII. He received his Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Iowa in 1961. He served as Professor of Music at Central Michigan University until his retirement in 1981. They relocated to Maryville in 1984 after several years traveling the United States. Florence and Edgar are preceded in death by Florence’s brother, Eugene, and by their youngest son, Daniel Ross. They are survived by Edgar’s brother, Don Ross and his spouse Carolyn of Colorado; sons, David Ross and his spouse Bettina of El Paso, TX, Stephen Ross and his spouse Beverly of Bloomsbury, NJ, Philip Ross of Fenton, MI, and daughter-in-law, Maria Ross of Carlton, MI; grandchildren Deanna Ross, Angela Ross, Jason Ross and his spouse Dianna, Sasha Ross, Bonnie Forrest and her spouse Eric, Amanda Ross, Scott Ross; and three great-grandchildren. They are also survived by their beloved pet collie dog, Gypsy. Services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2006, at 11 AM at New Providence Presbyterian Church in Maryville, where they were members, with the Rev. Dr. Emily Anderson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and/or to the Humane Society or other animal protection services.
