Elizabeth Pearl Burns

February 18, 1918 — September 18, 2003

BURNS, Elizabeth Waters age 85 of Wildwood, daughter of (Pappy) Joe and Lula Waters of Wildwood. Preceded in death by her parents and brothers Enoch, Max, and Otis Waters. Beloved wife of 52 years to Floyd Thomas Burns, Sr. She was an active member of Logans Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Burns were the first formal wedding to take place in the new Logans Church building. Mrs. Burns graduated from Porter High School. She attended Maryville College for two years, transferring to the University of Tennessee where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. She retired from the Blount County School System in 1983 after teaching at Porter Elementary for 16 years, Friendsville and Porter High Schools for 9 years. Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother to: Children, Jane and David Doan of Blountville, TN; John and Susan Burns of Townsend, TN; Becky and Paul DePrator of Stongsville, OH; Floyd Thomas Jr. and Nancy Burns of Chattanooga, TN; and Robert Burns of Maryville. Grandchildren Lori and Adam Hitch, Elizabeth Doan, Lucinda and Nathaniel Allin, Holly Burns, Alisa Doan, Debrorah Doan, David Bruce Doan III, and Rebekah Megan Burns. Step-grandchildren Jenise Greene, Doreen and Ed Zimmer, Kellie Dickson, Tiffany and Bill Bright, Derek DePrator. Great-grandchildren Anthony and Addison Hitch, great-grandson expected in December, Destiny, Noah and Olivia Zimmer. Schuyler Dickson, Ryan Bright. Sister, Mary Sue Thames of Maryville. Brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Grace Waters of Maryville. Sisters-in-law, Edith Pierce of Townsend, Ruby Burns and Ventura, CA, Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Saturday, September, 20th, 2003, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Bryan and Rev. Ann Robbins officiating. Family and friends will meet 2:00 PM Sunday at Logans Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery for the interment. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
