Ella Marie Keeble Hale

August 11, 1923 — February 3, 2020

Ella Marie Keeble Hale went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, February 3, 2020. She was 96 years young and born on August 11, 1923, to Catherine and Laban Keeble and was the youngest of 11 children. Preceded in death by Husband, Charles V. Hale whom she married on March 7, 1947, after a courtship which began before WWII. She worked for ALCOA (Aluminum Company) for 7 years prior to working and making a career in the automobile business as Bookkeeper/Accountant. She worked for over 50 years combined with McNutt Motor Company, McNutt Chrysler-Plymouth, John Rainey Volkswagen, and Twin City Dealerships. She was an active member of St. John United Methodist Church for 70+ years where she served as Church Treasurer and on various committees, as well dedicated Choir Member and UMW Member for over 50 years. She has been a volunteer at Blount Memorial Hospital at the information desk serving more than 200 hours. She graduated from Friendsville High School and skipped the 3rd Grade. Ella was a devoted Wife, Mother, Daughter, Aunt and Nana. She loved her family, extended church family, and friends and will be greatly missed.

In describing Ella, the most prominent adjectives are giving, loving, caring, helpful, nurturing, pleasant, positive, perfectionist, independent, encouraging, always had to be challenged, and had to be busy. In her younger years, she and Charles loved to dance and she and they went dancing and had friends over to dance. Ella loved being outside sweeping, gardening, cutting fresh flowers, and relaxing on her porch. She also loved entertaining and having gatherings at her home through the years for family, friends, and church groups. She and Charles enjoyed playing cards and having game nights as well.

She was a faithful Christian. She loved reading bible stories and publications as Guideposts, The Upper Room, as well as listening to religious television shows. She rarely missed a Sunday worship service or a Wednesday night choir practice. She loved singing and being an active member in the choir. When someone was in need whether it be a death in the family or sickness, she was always there with a meal or to help in any way she could. She always wanted to help make things better and easier for those around her. She was the ultimate caregiver and was a natural at it. Beginning with her Mother, whom she cared for with the help of other family members for 7 years following an illness. She also cared for Charles when he became ill and enabled him to remain at home as long as possible. She helped care for and sit with many other siblings and family members when there was a need. She retired at the age of 74 so she could “care for” her grand-daughter.

She loved her caregivers, Jeanette Meridas, Sandy Gordon, Teresa Maples, Brenda Sands and Blount Memorial Hospice Nurses.

Survived by Daughter and son-in-law, Denise Hale Brooks and Steven Brooks; Grand-Daughter, Breanna Marie Brooks, many nieces and nephews.
