Etheleen Mcghee Hord

May 26, 1921 — July 7, 2010

Etheleen McGhee Hord, age 89 of Maryville, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2010. She was deeply rooted in the Carpenter’s Campground community and was the oldest member of Carpenter’s Campground United Methodist Church. She worked at ALCOA for fifteen years and during this time helped her husband establish Maryville Builders Supply Company before “retiring” to start a family in 1958. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending her time with family and friends. After her children were grown, she enjoyed a second career at First Baptist Church of Maryville Nursery School. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ross Hord, of 39 years and three grandchildren, Alex, Kelsey and Will Fleming; parents, Chet and Pearl Lane McGhee; brother, Homer; sister-in-law, Wilma; niece, Jerrie McGhee; brothers, Fred and Don McGhee; sister, Leah McGhee, and brother-in-law, Ray Talbott. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Carol Hord of Friendsville; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Todd Fleming of Oak Ridge; and daughter, Connie Hord of Nashville; grandchildren, Garrett Fleming, Jessica, Robert (Buzz), and Andrew Hord; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Russ DeGroat of Roseburg, OR; brother and sister-in-law, James and Arlene McGhee of Greeneville, TN; sister, Dot Talbott of Maryville; and sister-in-law, Marie McGhee of Port Orange, FL; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to extraordinary care givers Laura Bell, Renee O’Connor and Home Instead staff, Carolyn Clark, Pam Fath, Sarah Moore, and Ranee Jennings. Funeral services will be at 8:00 p.m. Friday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Tucker officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Grandview Cemetery for a graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
