Frances Bowditch Garner

Frances Bowditch Garner, age 86 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at her home. She was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church and the Shields Sunday School Class for over 50 years. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Maryville College and her Master's Degree from UNC, Chapel Hill and taught in Mitchell County, Charlotte, NC and the Blount County School System. Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin D. and Bernice Hamrick Bowditch and brother, Edwin A. Bowditch. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, George W. Garner; daughters, Denice Garner of Maryville and Marcia Garner of Friendsville; son and daughter-in-law, Murray and Jane Ann Garner of Houston, TX; grandsons, William Garner and Adam Garner; sister, Miriam Bowditch of Morganton, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Bob Runion of Bakersville, NC; sister-in-law, Elizabeth ''Lib'' Bowditch of Valdese, NC; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Maryville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Carroll and Rev. Dan Moore officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church.
