George W. Province

August 5, 1921 — August 25, 2008

Province, George W., age 87 of Townsend, passed away Monday, August 25, 2008, at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. He was past president of Tennessee State Florist Association, past president of Knoxville Florist Society, inducted into Tennessee State Florist Association Hall of Fame, and a World War II veteran having served with the U. S. Air Force. He was the retired owner of Hartman’s Flowers, the former Horne’s Florist in Maryville and Johnson’s Flowers in Knoxville. Mr. Province was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Townsend and a former member of Sertoma Club of Blount County. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother and sister. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Barbara T. Province; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Steve Kear of Nashville, NC; daughter, Janet L. Latham of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, George B. and Cindy Province of Maryville; grandchildren, Ray, Andy and Katy Kear, Julia Cockrell, Buffy Ward, Allen and George Latham, Jason Sorensen, Hope Justice, Paige Metcalf, and Ashley Aldridge; 18 great grandchildren; special friend and co-worker, Steve Davis. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Williams officiating. The interment service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Magnolia Cemetery.
