Georgia Childress

Georgia Childress, age 103 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born September 12, 1912, in Coeburn, Virginia. She worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company for 30 years as a telephone operator, retiring in 1976. She was an active participant in life. She believed she was put on earth to help people. She loved to bowl, dance, laugh, tell funny stories, and loved her pets. She was a do-it now person who loved her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Childress and Mary Hammack Childress, and her five siblings. She is survived by her twins, Howard Lee Sneed (Susan) and Helen Ferguson; grandchildren, Catherine Cavanaugh, Shawna Maine, Loren Sneed, Carol Sue Farmer, and Mary Jo Eidson; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; special niece, Clara Echols and other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 7:00pm Friday, July 29, 2016, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel with Pastor James Beasley officiating.
