H. Frank Soard

SOARD, H. Frank, age 81 yrs., of Friendsville, TN, formerly of Oak Ridge, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 14, 2002 at U.T. Hospital in Knoxville, TN. Born in Mooristown, TN, he was a graduate of Morristown H.S. and attended U.T., where he played football, Brown University and the University of Iowa. He was inducted in 1984 into the Tennessee Swimming Hall of Fame for his service to Southeastern swimming and his invention of the first automatic judging-timing machine. A Veteran of the Navy, he served during WWII as a fighter pilot flying an F-4. He worked for 38 yrs. as a Chemical Specialist for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN until his retirement in 1986. He is a member of the Monte Vista Bapist Church in Maryville, TN, the American Legion Post 2000 of Nashville, TN and the AARP. He was preceded in death by his first wife Janis (Nee Zeising) Soard and his sister Velma Johnson. He is the beloved husband of Sarah M. (Nee Hiittner) Stow-Soard of Friendsville, TN and loving father of Judy Roy and her husband Eddy of Knoxville, TN and Karen Rule and her husband David of Maryville, TN, Step-Father of David & Lynn Stow of Medford, NJ, Donald & Bonnie Stow of Atco, NJ and Dean Stow of Atco, NJ. He is also survived by his four sisters Dorothy Soard, Alma Jean Soard, Margaret Carr and Phyllis Smith all of Oak Ridge, TN, his brother Harold Soard of Lenoir City, TN, and his Grandchildren Joshua, Daniel and Judy Rule and Danelle and Dawn Stow and many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home 220 W. Broadway Ave., Maryville, TN, 865-982-6812, where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 8:00 PM. Friends may gather Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9:30-10:00 AM for the Interment at the Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oak Ridge, TN.
