Hazel Davis Watkins

WATKINS, Hazel Davis, 87, of Maryville, Tennessee, died on Saturday, October 28, at Blount Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born on May 23, 1919, in Loudon County. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Riley and Annie Hughes Ridge; brothers, J. D. and Albert T. Ridge; sisters, Juanita Blevins and Ruth Ridge Holt, and husband James D. Davis. She is survived by her husband, Earl Mac Watkins; daughter, Rose Davis Smith (Douglas) of Louisville, KY, granddaughter, Lara Kristen Jones (Jeffrey) of Louisville, KY; great grandchildren, Leah Marie and Davis Smith Jones. Other survivors include, W. R. Ridge, Jr. (Joyce) of Niota, Clova Caldwell of Tullahoma, Anna Christine Crabtree (T. L.) of North Augusta, SC, as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; step daughter, Diane Charriere and husband Chuck Wadsager; step granddaughter, MichelleWinsel; step grandson, Charles Wadsager all of Louisville, TN; step granddaughter, Suzanne Greene; step great grandchildren, Danielle, Jessica, Cayden and Douglas, Jr. Greene all of Lehigh Acres, FL. A lifelong Baptist, her membership for fifty-six years was in the First Baptist Church of Alcoa. For twenty-five years she served as dietitian for the Alcoa City Schools. The family wishes to acknowledge its gratitude to physicians—Phillip Hoffman, Carole Long, and Bruce Roberts—and staff members and caretakers at Blount Memorial Hospital, Wellington Place and Morning View Transitional Care Unit, for an unusual degree of kindness in their treatment of Hazel’s continuing illnesses. The family will receive friends at 12 noon on Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, 220 W. Broadway, Maryville. A memorial service with Dr. Leslie Hollon of Louisville, KY, and Rev. Freeman Tomlin of First Baptist Church Alcoa officiating will follow at 1:00 p.m. The interment service will follow at City Cemetery in Lenoir City. Family members and friends will serve as Pall Bearers.
