James Fred Whitehead

June 28, 1930 — November 9, 2008

James Fred Whitehead, age 78, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008, at Blount Memorial Hospital following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Following graduation from Walland High School, he proudly served his beloved country in the United States Army during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge. He retired from the Aluminum Company of America with 28 years of service and was a member of the 25 Year Club. He was a faithful and active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and leaves behind a large Church family of which he loved. He loved springtime and the outdoors and spent a large amount of time gardening and fishing; he never met a stranger and enjoyed talking and retelling stories of the past with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Ed and Bessie Whitehead; sisters, Wilma Whitehead and Louise Mogridge; brothers-in-law, Clyde Mogridge and John Cagle; niece and nephews, Beverly and Larry Cagle and Benny Reagan. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Edna Hodge Whitehead; son and daughter-in-law, James and Robin Whitehead of Lenoir City; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Benny Law, Herma Kay and Mike Tucker all of Maryville; grandchildren, Bryan Law, Jeremy and Lindsey Law, Cody, Chelseay and Cara Tucker all of Maryville, Daniel Whitehead of Lenoir City, Mike and Robin Kiser of Maryville; great grandchildren, Kelsy and Hunter Kiser of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Raymond Paschell of Maryville; extended family, Kenneth, Loretta and Angela Gregory, Connie Harig and family, Becky Johnson and family; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl White officiating. The interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Grandview Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
