John Lee Myers

August 10, 1925 — September 23, 2008

John Lee Myers, age 83 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at Asbury Place. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and Fountain City Lodge #757. He graduated from Vale Tech, PA, East TN State University and the University of TN Insurance and Claims Program. He was a retired claims representative from Ohio Casualty Insurance Company, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in France, Germany and Korea. He was preceded in death by infant son, Richard; parents, John and Mertie Myers; brothers, Max, Whitten, Dudley, and Carl; sisters, Nell Hamley, Hazel Hines, Jamie Blewett, and Jessie Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Lavetta Carpenter Myers; sister-in-law, Mary Carpenter; nieces, Malinda Carpenter Boring of Maryville and Carol Simmons of Maynardville and several nephews. Family and friends will meet at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Carpenters United Methodist Church Cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. David Myers and Dr. Jerald Russell. The family will receive friends in Carpenters Church Fellowship Hall following the graveside service or friends may call at their convenience at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern TN Chapter, P. O.
