Marceil Householder Peery January 20, 1921 - April 11, 2018 Born in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee Resided in Maryville, Tennessee Marceil Householder Peery, age 97 of Maryville passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Morningview Village Transition Center, Maryville, TN. She departed with the grace, dignity and clarity of mind that she possessed throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her husband Clyde J. Peery, Sr.; parents Dave M. and Mattie Belle Butler Householder; sister Katherine Housholder; father-in-law Ira W Peery; mother-in-law Nolia Norton Peery; and daughter-in-law Kathryn McCulloch (Nowell) Peery. Survived by daughter Mary Helen Peery; son Clyde J. Peery Jr.; grandchildren Alicia (Bobby) Luttrell; Ashley (Liesl) Peery; brother James A. (Julia) Householder; step- grandson John Joseph Nowell; step-granddaughter Lee (Phillip Depoy) Nowell; nieces Elaine H. (G.W. Dub) McIntosh; Gail H. (David) Reeder; great niece Katelyn Reeder; great nephews Hunter (Jessica) McIntosh; David ( Katherine) McIntosh; Travis (Lisa) McIntosh. Marceil was born in Pigeon Forge and grew up as a member of the Pigeon Forge Methodist Church. She was an alumna of Lincoln Memorial University and taught school at Pittman Center before marrying Clyde Peery in 1943. She was a stay at home mother who was actively involved with her family, in her church and community. She was an active member of the Chilhowee Club and a charter member of the Mary Blount Garden Club. She joined First Methodist of Maryville in 1946 where she served as teacher, worker, and pianist in the childrens division of Sunday School. She was pianist for the Belle Henry Young Sunday School class for many years. She was President of the United Methodist Women as well as District Vice-President of the United Methodist Women and Secretary of Student Work. She was founder and Chairman of the Hospitality Committee, which for many years, served receptions for Church functions and weddings. In 1986 she received Maryville First United Methodist Churches Distinguished Member Award. She was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club International. She was also the 2003 family recipient of the Starlight Award by the Maryville City Schools Foundation and named to their Honor Society for her long support of the Foundation. Marceil enjoyed traveling with her husband Clyde Sr. until his untimely death in 1986. One of her great joys was entertaining family and extended family during birthdays, Christmas and Easter. Her rolls and homemade candy will be missed by all. She was an avid sports fan and rarely missed a radio or TV broadcast of Maryville High Schools football team, University of Tennessees football and mens and womens basketball as well as the Atlanta Braves. She was as sweet and loving lady who thoroughly enjoyed life. She, with her welcoming smile, will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to express gratitude and appreciation for the care and compassion of the doctors and nurses on Fourth Floor North, Fifth Floor East, Palliative Care and Hospice of Blount Memorial Hospital and nurses at Morningview Village Transition Center. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Maryville, 804 Montvale Station Road, Maryville. TN 37803 or to the Maryville City Schools Foundation, 402 Melrose Street, Maryville, TN 37803. A Celebration of Life service will be on Friday, April 20 at 7:00 PM at First United Methodist Church of Maryville with the Rev. Catherine Nance officiating.
