Mardell Frances Louise (Gold) Walker

Mardell Frances Louise (Gold) Walker, age 81, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at MorningView Transitional Center, Maryville. Mardell was born on January 5, 1941, in Sewanee, TN. She was a retiree of Tennessee Valley Authority at different locations for total of 21 years. Mardell was a member of Maryville Baptist Tabernacle, and so enjoyed the summer church camp meetings in North Carolina. She was a member of Eastern Star Lodge.

She was a beautiful soul who loved people and was loved in return. She never met a stranger. They were all just friends she hadn’t met yet. She loved her Lord and was always ready to share her testimony of His love and grace toward her.
Mardell had many health problems during her life; but, made sure to give God the praise for bringing her through each one.

She is at rest now and completely healed. She is worshipping her Saviour with hands held high.
Mardell enjoyed Black Star Reunions and loved the fact she was able to attend all 12 grades in the same school. She was proud to grow up a “Coal Miner’s Daughter!”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Vivian (Jones) Gold, her two brothers, Frank Jr. and John Wesley Gold and also her husbands, Jay Will Taylor, T J Massey and Robert F. Walker and stepson Tim Massey. She is survived by son, James Taylor (wife, Merlina), granddaughter, Lynzie Smith (husband, Doug), stepson, Greg Massey (wife, Lena); sisters, Vivian McCormack, Wanda Gold, and Leota Crowe (husband, Charles), a host of other relatives and friends, and special friend and prayer warrior, Jack Smith.

The family will receive friends at Maryville Baptist Tabernacle, 1585 Mt. Tabor Rd, Maryville from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM, on Saturday, August 20, 2022. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM with Rev. Rick Smelcer and Rev. Chris Smelcer officiating. The graveside service will immediately follow at the church cemetery.
