GRUBBS, Margaret DeLozier, age 90 of Maryville, passed away the 26th of June, 2006, at Blount Memorial Transitional Care. She was born in Townsend, TN where her father, Dr. Benjamin E. DeLozier, was a medical doctor for the Townsend Lumber Company. She was named for Col. Townsend’s wife, Margaret Townsend. She was an active member of Maryville First United Methodist Church and also enjoyed several years of fellowship at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church of Louisville, playing the piano in each one. She enjoyed the Women’s Circles, Chilhowee Club, and was an original member in a Bridge Club that met over sixty consecutive years. She was a PTA President, a Band Mother, a Sunday School Teacher, a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority Mothers Club, a Girl Scout Leader and a Cub Scout Leader. She was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Grubbs; parents, Dr. Benjamin E. and Zelma McMahan DeLozier; brothers, Hugh, Paul, Ben, Eugene and Harry DeLozier. She is survived by: son, William Wynne Grubbs, Jr. and wife, Dorella of Greenville, SC; daughters, Barbara Grubbs of Louisville, TN, and Patricia Grubbs Sherwood and husband, Don of Maryville; grandchildren, William W. Grubbs and wife Meghan of Lilburn, GA, Carrie Grubbs Craycraft and husband Jeff of Newnan, GA, Susan S. McKerley and husband Michael of Nashville, TN, Edward Sherwood of Gallatin, TN, Alan Sherwood and wife Michelle of Franklin, TN; and 7 great grandchildren. With loving hand our mother pointed out the way that 90 years later, three generations follow today. She would also wish to remember sisters-in-law, Gladys L. DeLozier of Maryville, Ivalene C. DeLozier and dear friend, Estelle Welch of Greenville, SC and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Brenda and Larry Carroll officiating. The interment service will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. In lieu of flowers, Margaret being an avid reader, memorials may be made to the Blount County Public Library, 508 N. Cusick Street, Maryville, TN 37804.
