Margaret Ellen Salser

Margaret Ellen Salser, age 61, of Maryville passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at UT Hospital after suffering a stroke. Beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, she will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, H.D. (Snake) and Margaret Ruth. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Joe Salser, daughter Cheryl Salser and grandson Timothy, of Bristol, VA; and daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jerry Cowan, and grandchildren Abby and Jack, of Maryville; and sister and brother-in-law Susan and Wallace Price of Texas. Born on January 1, 1950, in Lambert, Mississippi, Ellen graduated from Lambert High School in 1967 and attended nursing school. After marrying Joe and starting her family, Ellen devoted herself to what would come to define her - taking care of everyone around her. Her caring and compassionate nature was obvious to all who knew her. Everything from leading Girl Scout troops to shuttling softball and soccer teams, Ellen's focus in life was to make her families life the most memorable and happy one she could. Ellen's love of family and friends was evident in everything she did, touching every life she came into contact with compassion and love. Later in life, as her children expanded her world with grandchildren, they became another joy that Ellen excelled and flourished in. Whether it was attending a school program, giving baths, or playing games, there was nothing more important to ''Nanna'' than ensuring that her grandchildren's days were filled with love, compassion, creativity, and fun. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 am Saturday at Grandview Cemetery for a graveside service with Dr. Jerry Russell officiating.
