Marion G. Stout

Marion G. Stout, 111 years old, claimed her passage to heaven on Saturday, April 7, 2007. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 31, 1896. Her life was centered around her family, her children's schools and her church. Wherever she lived, the church was very important to her, in Brooklyn, Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Birmingham, Alabama, Memphis or Knoxville. Following the death of her husband, George H. Stout in 1936, she took her daughters back to her family home in Brooklyn. While there she spent many years working for a brokerage firm on Wall Street. After retiring in 1959, she moved to Memphis and then Knoxville in 1963. Following a bout of pneumonia she moved to Shannondale of Maryville in October of last year. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four siblings, two sons-in-law, and two grandsons. Surviving are three daughters, Marion S. Wilson and her husband, Dr. Stanton R. Wilson, of Stephens City, V A, Eleanor S. Barker, and Catherine S. Beals of Knoxville. Grandchildren are John W. Wilson of Pompano Beach, FL, Nancy C. Wilson of Stephens City, VA, Scott J. Wilson of Charlotte, N.C, George L. Barker of Clifton, VA, Paul Chris Barker of Marietta, GA, Phillip D. Barker of Easley, SC, David F. Barker of Charlotte, NC, Joe D. Beals, III, of Knoxville, and Brent M. Beals of Knoxville. Great-G randchildren are Erik, Emily, Lindsey, Erin and Brad Barker, and great-great-grandson, Jonathan Barker. A memorial service will be held at the Second Presbyterian Church on Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. William Waterstradt and Dr. James Wilbanks officiating. A reception for friends to greet the family will be held following the service at the church. There will be a family interment service at Magnolia Cemetery Maryville. She leaves a host of friends at Second Presbyterian Church, Knoxville, and memorials may be made to the church (2829 Kingston Pike, 37919) towards a Habit for Humanity house.
