Marion Gail Hughes

Marion Gail Hughes, age 79 of Tallassee, TN, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, TN. She was born June 27, 1943, in Corpus Christi, Texas, the daughter of J.D. Hughes, SR. and Jean (Campbell) Hughes. They were a Navy family and moved several times around the country. Gail spent many years in Washington D.C. and later moved to Tennessee where her parents had retired. She was a graduate of George Washington University and worked in various law firms, universities, and retail businesses. Gail raised cocker spaniels and loved her various pets through the years.

Gail is survived by her brother, John D. Hughes, Jr. (Karen), nephew J.D. Hughes, III (Bethany), niece Jennifer V. Hughes, her beloved dog Mia, many cousins and close friends. 

Gail’s cremation remains will be buried near her parents at Grandview Cemetery in Maryville. A memorial service will occur at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite pet adoption agency in her name.
