Mary Alice Fugate McCall was born May 25, 1923 in Claiborne County, Tennessee to the late Elisha F. Fugate and Jennie Edds Fugate. She passed away at home on April 5, 2016 from injuries sustained in a fall on February 14. Attended Maryville College and graduated from the University of Tennessee. Retired from the Blount County School System. She was a charter member of Springview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Preceded in death by husband, Samuel G. McCall; son-in-law, William G. Hodge; sisters, Wilma F. Akers and husband, Kenneth B. Akers; Betty F. Taylor; brothers, Earl F. Fugate and Don E. Fugate; brother-in-law, Max E. Mize; step-granddaughter, Lori Laugherty. Survived by daughters, Jenny M. Headrick and Darrell, Jane M. Hodge; sons, Samuel G. McCall, II and Koky, Joseph F. McCall and Vicki; grandchildren, Samuel Christopher McCall and Ursula, Jonathan Owen McCall and Jenni, Darren L. Headrick, Molli Jo Jenkins and Mitchell, Mary Elise Ikonomou and John; step grandchildren, Jeff Hodge and Kandy, Todd Hodge and Susan, Nikki Taylor; great grandchildren, Samuel Lakin, Colby Dean and Gordon Owen McCall, Josie Annelise, Jonas William and Jaylon Mitchell Jenkins and John Elisha Ikonomou; step great grandchildren, Nick Hodge and Stephanie, Jena Mize and Benjamin, Will Hodge, Cooper Hodge, Callie Kennedy, Brock Taylor, Zander Melton, Sierra Headrick, Seaver Laugherty, and Trenton Daugherty; step great great grandchildren, Adley Hodge and Avery Mize; sister, Jimmie F. Mize; brothers, Bob Fugate and June, Lon Fugate and Marjorie, Jerry Fugate and Mary Hazel, Mike Fugate and Sheila; sister-in-law, Lynda Fugate; brother-in-law, Charles Taylor. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who were all precious to their Aunt Mary, and the many children that she taught at Carpenters Elementary and Binfield Elementary Schools. Special thanks to her loving caregivers, Mona Jeffries and Patty Sneed and the Blount Memorial Hospice for their care and concern. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Ward officiating. The interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Maintenance and Repair Fund, Springview Baptist Church, 4220 US Hwy. 411 S, Maryville, TN 37801.
