Mary Sloan Welsh

November 8, 1912 — January 28, 2006

Mary Sloan Welsh - age 93 of Maryville passed away Saturday, January 28, 2006 at Shannondale of Maryville. She was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church. She receive her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Maryville College and her Masters of Arts Degree from the University of Tennessee. She taught at Washington College Academy and Everett High School before she went to Maryville College as Administrative Assistant to the Director of Financial Aid. She retired from Maryville College in 1977. Ms. Welsh was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Howard M. Welsh and Ocey Walker Welsh; brothers, Robert S. Welsh, and Hubert C. Welsh all of whom were graduates of Maryville College. Survivors include her nieces, Elizabeth S. Welsh of Maryville, Margaret Welsh Curlovic and husband Don of Sumter, SC; great nephew, David Welsh Curlovic of Raleigh, NC; great niece, Susan Curlovic Werner and husband Joe of Louisville, KY; great-great niece and nephew, Kate and Jack Werner of Louisville, KY. Memorial services will be 4:00 P.M. Monday at New Providence Presbyterian Church Chapel with Rev. Steve Musick and Rev. Philip Bembower officiating. The family will receive friends Monday following the service in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Maryville College or to New Providence Presbyterian Church.
