Maurice James Steppe

Maurice James Steppe, age 88, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2009, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and was Lay Leader at Top of the World Chapel. Maurice was a World War II Navy veteran who served in the Pacific. He retired from Alcoa after working there for 45 years. Maurice loved hiking in the Smoky Mountains, playing golf, and talking to his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dona Patterson Steppe and brother, Quentin Steppe. He is survived by his wife, Bonita Pollard Steppe; daughter, Donna Steppe Millard and husband, Joe of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Bill Steppe and wife, Susan of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Jeff and Amy Millard of Longmont, CO, Richard Millard of Durango, CO, Seth Steppe and Tyler Steppe of Memphis, TN; and niece, Jane Steppe Chastain and husband, Roger of Aguanga, CA. A celebration of Maurice’s life will be held at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home on Friday, May 29, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. The interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
