Max Evan Garrett

Garrett, Max Evan - 94, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on August 2, 2008, at Park West Hospital. He was born on Sept., 22, 1913, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Earl B. and Beulah Garrett. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in England, France and Germany. In England, he met and married Margaret Anne Richards, of Derby, England, with whom he spent 63 happy years. After the war, he completed his Bachelor's Degree and earned a Masters Degree at the University of Tennessee and entered the teaching profession, where he served until he retired in 1979. Most of his professional career was spent in the Knox County School System. He taught and/or served as a guidance counselor at Clinton, Holston and Central High Schools. In addition, he ran a distributive education program at Austin East High School. He leaves behind his loving family - wife, Margaret of Knoxville; daughter Angela and her husband Don Phillips, of Fairfax, VA; daughter Teresa and her husband Jedd Dotson, of Lawrenceville, GA; granddaughter, Stephanie Phillips of Fairfax, VA; grandson, Jeremy Dotson, of Lawrenceville, GA; and his beloved pup, Peppi. He was a member of Erin Presbyterian Church, Knoxville. His remains will be interred at the New Providence Cemetery in Maryville, TN. McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville will be handling his interment. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be sent to the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley, 800 Millwood Rd., Knoxville, TN 37920.
