Michael(Mike) Frederick Crawley

August 19, 1940 — May 5, 2012

Michael (Mike) Frederick Crawley, born August 19, 1940, passed peacefully to be with his father and mother on Saturday, May 5th, 2012. He departed in comfort and peace with his wife, two daughters and son with wife, at his side. Mike was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, whose generosity knew no bound. Mike was born in London, England during the war to Grace and John Crawley who were displaced to Romford, East of London. The war weighed heavily on Mikes conscience for all of his life. In 1978, Mike moved his family and small business to Maryville where he expanded and grew his company, Macawber Engineering, to span five continents and do business in almost all countries of the world. Macawber Engineering of Maryville, to this day, still employs thirty-five people locally, and has expanded to help put food on the table of more than one hundred families around the world. In Mikes time guiding and building Macawber he has been a member of the Maryville Chamber of Commerce, receiving the key to the city of Maryville in 1983 after participating in and hosting events surrounding the 1982 Worlds Fair held in Knoxville. In 1992, Mike explored India as a viable ground for expansion of business activities, followed by the UK in 1994 and China in 2002. Today, Mikes efforts around the world include operation centers in Maryville, the United Kingdom, India, China and Brazil. Mike truly enjoyed working with people from all corners of the globe and played a part in bringing the world closer together. Mike is survived by his wife, Maria; his children, Catherine (Richard), Sarah (Brock), Ben (Stacey) and their mother, Heather; and his grandchildren, Grace, Brooke, Andrew, Hannah and Eli. Mike will be missed dearly, and remembered by all of those his travels and passions and work touched. Receiving of friends will be held Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home; memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. A private funeral attended by immediate family only at Grandview Cemetery was held on Monday. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Mike, Dad and Grandpa, with you always. www.mccammonammonsclick.com
