CURTIS, Mildred Lane, age 89 of Maryville, born in Loudon County on May 26, 1918 and passed away at Blount Memorial Hospital on June 5, 2007. Mildred was a graduate of Maryville College and taught at Glendale School before her marriage. She was a long-time member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, where she had served as a deacon, was an active member of the Presbyterian Women of the Congregation, and served faithfully in many other capacities. For over 20 years, a very special part of her life was working in the New Providence Community Benefit Sale. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lela Lane; husband, Lynn Curtis; son, Stephen Curtis; brother, Bill Lane; sister, Ruby DeLozier. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lynn and Ken Roy; daughter-in-law, Susan Curtis; grandchildren, Matthew Curtis, Stefanie Curtis and Allen Roy; great grandsons, Hezekiah and Jamauren Tyson; sister, Ruth Prewett; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Gilbert Hartsell; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Stanley Huddleston; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Chambers; brother-in-law, George Jack; sister-in-law, Henrietta Curtis; very special nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, the ladies of New Providence Community Benefit Sale and many other friends. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at New Providence Presbyterian Church with Rev. Steve Musick officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Church. A private burial service will be held Thursday morning at Cloyd’s Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the New Providence Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Music Fund, 703 W.
