Myrtis Wood Allen

Myrtis Wood Allen, age 88, died Wednesday afternoon, February 25, 2004, at Blount Memorial Transitional Care Center. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Beulah Wood of Itawamba County, Mississippi. Myrtis had lived in Maryville since 1955 and was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church. She was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Sam Allen; her daughter and son-in-law, Beth A. and Jim Mercer of Decatur, TN and by several nieces and nephews. The interment service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 28, at the New Providence Presbyterian Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at New Providence Presbyterian Church with The Rev. J. Steven Musick and The Rev. Philip Bembower officiating. A reception to receive friends will follow the service.
