Philip Hutton, a Blount county resident, went to be with Jesus shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2011. He died peacefully, surrounded by his sons, John William, Charles Edward, and James Louis, and daughter-in-law, Lisabeth Anita Hutton. He was a Corpsman in the Navy, Captain in the Army, and received a Masters Degree in physical therapy from Baylor University. In 1978 he began his career as physical therapist for Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, moving to the home health department in 1991 and ending his career in 2009. He dedicated his retirement to his Faith Community at Church Street United Methodist Church and his work there as a Stephen Minister. His greatest private joy was music, especially the classical music of Haydn, Bach, and Schubert. This was added to a lifelong love of a wide range of world music, blues, and jazz. He also greatly enjoyed the piano lessons he took late in life. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Diane Joy Glass Hutton; brothers Michael Fred, Gerald Joseph, and James Louis. He is survived by brothers, John Thomas, Anthony Charles, and Robert Edward and their children, Carla, Zoe, Zack, Naomi Endicott, Rebekah, Susanna Hutton Hadley, Robert, and Jacob. He leaves behind his much loved sons, John William, Charles Edward, and James Louis, as well as friends Fran Gallagher, Rhonda Khashijan, Frank Word, and Brenda and Stanley Gribble. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Church Street United Methodist Church, 900 Henley Street and Main Street, Knoxville, Tn 37901. The interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Kingston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. Monday at the Church.
