Robert E. ''Bob'' Herron

Robert E. (Bob) Herron, age 84, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 8, 2009. He was the only child of Carl and Jessie Parks Herron of Friendsville. He was a member of Friendsville Quaker Church and later Maryville First Baptist. He retired from Vulcan Materials where he was Superintendent of the Maryville Quarry. He also loved to farm and raise beef cattle. In 1998, he sold his farm to the Blount County Industrial Board. He served on the Blount County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and the Republican Executive Committee. In 2006, he stepped down from South Blount Utility Board where he served for 16 years. He was also a member of Blount County and TN Livestock Association. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 48 years, Dorothy Lambert Herron. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Mark Griffith of Maryville; grandson, Jason R. Griffith of Brooklyn, NY; granddaughter, Catherine J. (CJ) Griffith and fiancé Matt Benson of Maryville; cousins, Mary Hazel Fugate of Maryville and Teeny Parks Henson of Georgetown, SC. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009, in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. The interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009, at Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30-4:00 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.
