Robert "Mike" Stephens

Robert “Mike” Stephens, 89, of Andover, Illinois passed away on Sunday November 6, 2022 at Brookdale Assistive Living in Maryville, TN.

Mike was born in Andover, IL the son of Lloyd and Gladys (Johnson) Stephens. He married Nelda Witte in 1955.

He graduated from Orion High School. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War and was honored to participate in the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities in May 2013. He was a member of the Andover American legion Post 465, Augustana Lutheran Church, and the Henry County Farm Bureau. He served many years on the Andover town council.

He owned and operated NuSide siding company, Andover for 25 years.

A lifelong supporter of the Fighting Illini, Cubs “Go Cubs!” and Bears. He participated in many bowling leagues and was an avid golfer, spending many summer days at Valley View in Cambridge.

Mike is survived by his wife Nelda, his two daughters, Denise (Brent) Johns, Maryville, TN and Lisa Lee, Denver, CO. Four grandchildren, Danielle (Lee) Bristol, Nashville, TN; Nicholas Johns, Maryville, TN; Brandon Johns, Chattanooga, TN; and Alexa Johns, Knoxville, TN, and one great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Charlie Stephens and son Douglas Reid Stephens.
