Robert W. Hughes, age 80 of Maryville, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Unitia Masonic Lodge 32nd degree Mason, retired from Blount County Highway Department, was a Staff Sgt. in the 7th Calvary Infantry with the U. S. Army from 1948-1958, serving in the Phillipines and Korea and also served with the TN National Guard. He was preceded in death by his wife Christine Orr Hughes; parents, James Lincoln Sr., and Margaret Roberts Hughes; sister, Nancy Kate Oyster; infant brother, James Lincoln Hughes, Jr. Survivors include his daughters, Linda Hughes, Roberta Fox and husband Keith, Tami Giffin Hargis; stepson, Bobby Giffin; step-grandchildren, Tyler Hargis, Robbie Giffin, Bailey Giffin. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave McCammon officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Bakers Creek Cemetery for the interment service.
