Sam Paul Lombardo

December 10, 1918 — January 9, 2004

LOMBARDO, Sam Paul, age 85 of Maryville, passed away Friday, January 9, 2004, at Asbury Acres Healthcare Center. He had been an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church serving as greeter, usher, and lector among other duties. He was born in Raceland, Louisiana, December 10, 1918. He served in the U. S. Navy and received an honorable medical discharge in 1941. In 1963 he moved to Maryville and became a member of Our Lady of Fatima. Mr. Lombardo opened General Star Sheet Metal Shop in 1974. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, influential in starting the Dismas House in Maryville, and served faithfully in Prison Outreach. He contributed time and efforts to the Food Connection and also ministered to different nursing homes unselfishly as long as his health allowed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Thibodeaux Lombardo; father, Angelo J. Lombardo; brother, Frank Lombardo; son, Paul Lombardo, and daughter, Mary Frances Lombardo. Survivors include his wife, Edna Henley Lombardo; daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Jim Aslinger of Knoxville, Jacqueline and Tom Foster of Knoxville, Margie and Randy Nichols of Maryville, Cathy and Robert Potter of Maryville; son, John Michael Lombardo of Morristown; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Timothy and Dixie Lombardo of Maryville; grandchildren, Michelle Nichols Kyle, Jason and wife Carrie Hardin, Andy and wife Jodie Lombardo, Wendeline Foster and fiancee Brandon Chutich, Michael Hardin, Joey Lombardo and great grandchildren, Avery Kyle, Bailey Lombardo and Italia Kyle. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home followed by a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Alex Waraksa officiating. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
