Samuel A. Rose

July 25, 1934 — December 3, 2010

Samuel A. Rose age 76 of Maryville, passed Friday, December 3, 2010 at Mercy Hospital West. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter A. and Jeanette Smith Rose; brother, Ben Rose; special niece, Missy rose. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville. Sam worked in sales and marketing for 20 years in insurance,banking, and retail. He also worked for Alcoa for 15 years, retiring in 1993. Sam’s greatest passions include his wife Barbara who cared for him faithfully for 52 years, his children whom he was very proud of and his seven precious grandchildren who enjoyed many adventures with their Papa. Sam was also passionate about his work with Miracle Lake where he spent over 20 years giving financial, spiritual, and physical support to men in need. Miracle Lake is an eight week residential Christian Training Center to men who have expressed a desire to leave the harmful use of drugs and alcohol and the crime generally associated with such use. Many of these men expressed their gratitude and love for Sam who through the years “saved their lives.” Survived by wife, Barbara Jean Hickman Rose; adult children, Kim Rose Freeman and husband Tom, Jenni Rose Norred and husband Rob Jr., Jeff Rose and wife Kelly, Kevin Rose and wife Robyn; grandchildren, Tyler Freeman and wife Catlin, Trent Freeman, Liz Norred, Emory Norred, Hannah Rose, Sophia Rose, and Zoe Rose; numerous extended family members and beloved friends. Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2010 at McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel with Rev. Jack Bryan and Dr. John Sharp officiating. Family and friends will meet 12:30 p.m Tuesday at Magnolia Cemetery for the interment. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville, 982-6812. Memorial donations may be made to Miracle Lake, P.O. Box 327, Etowah, TN, 37331.
