Shirley Ann Hall Anderson

May 17, 1931 — May 24, 2016

Shirley Ann Hall Anderson, age 85 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at her home. Shirley enjoyed many different events and hobbies. Her largest accomplishment, other than her large family, was the founding of the Blount YWCA. She served on the board over 20 years and watched it grow from 16 charter members to several hundred over the time of its existence. Shirley was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Maryville and was very involved with several different committees. She thoroughly enjoyed attending several hundred baseball games at Maryville Little League with three generations of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. "Rebel Granny" maintained season tickets for three decades to cheer on her beloved Maryville Red Rebels. A patriotic lady, Shirley was always dressed in red, white and blue for the holidays but preferred her purple for church and other occasions. With her passion for music and zest for life, the harps and violins are now sounding livelier with Shirley at her final resting place. She was preceded in death by son, Eddie. Survivors include beloved husband of 63 years, Jim Anderson; daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Tim Counts, Janie and Glenn Beeson; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Kim Anderson, Jimmy and Lisa Anderson, Johnny and Angela Anderson; son, Archie Anderson. She was proud Granny to grandchildren, Wesley, Chase, Russell, Christian, Ashley, Brianna, Olivia, Samuel, Avery and Louisa; 7 great grandchildren and with 2 on the way. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Maryville with Rev. Sarah Slack officiating. The interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Friday at the Church. The family has requested donations to be made to Alzheimer's Tennessee, Inc., 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919-6340 or flowers would be welcome for Shirley's "Flower Garden".
