Stella M. Settles

Stella M. Settles, 87 of Walland, TN, died on April 6, 2009 at The Hearthside Nursing Home in State College, PA. Born April 26, 1921 in Knoxville, TN, she was a daughter of the late Franklin L. and Dulah Butler Schultz. She was married in 1947 to Charles H. Settles, who preceded her in death in 2002. She attended Farragut High School in Knoxville, and later served as a schoolteacher. During World War II she operated a turret lathe for Robertshaw Controls Co. in Knoxville, TN. She is survived by her son Gary S. Settles of Bellefonte, PA, her sister Hannah Delena Schultz Womack of Ooltewah, TN, and two granddaughters, Marianne Settles and Lara Settles Denis. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. Family and friends will assemble at 2:00 p.m. at Edgewood Cemetery in Knoxville for a graveside service with Rev. Mike Seagle officiating.
