Thomas A. ''Tom'' Sawyer

Thomas A. “Tom” Sawyer, age 88 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at his home. He was a member of Maryville First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, was a veteran of World War II, was the treasurer of the Chilhowee Baptist Association for 21 years and was a retired rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Merle Sawyer; brother, Malcom Sawyer; sister, Aileene Roden. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Margaret (Jo) Sawyer; sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Sawyer, Dr. and Mrs. Chris Sawyer; daughter, Kathy Watson; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren all of Maryville; sister, Jean Wilson of Rutherford, TN. Special appreciation to Drs. Taylor Weatherbee and Bryan Thompson for their exceptional care throughout his illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Sharp and Dr. Bill Blevins officiating.
