Velma Grace Cutshaw Grindstaff

Velma Grace Cutshaw Grindstaff, 89, of Maryville, TN went to rejoice with her Lord and Savior on May 26 , 2008, after a short stay at Blount Memorial Hospital. She has gone home to be with her husband of 45 years, Paul Grindstaff, who preceded her in death 27 years ago. She was a lifelong faithful member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Paul’s parents James and Cordelia Grindstaff donated the land that the church now sits on. Paul and Velma later donated the land that is now the adjoining parking area. Besides her loving husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, John Nicholas Grindstaff; parents, John and Margaret Cutshaw; brothers, Ernest Cutshaw, Echard Cutshaw and George Cutshaw; grandson, Tony McCroy and lifelong friend who preceded her in death by 11 days, Hazel Garland. She leaves behind five children and their spouses, daughters and son-in-laws, Margaret and Homer Potter of Maryville, TN, Pauline and Gary McCroy of Maryville, TN, Belinda and Fred Duncan of Kingsport, TN; sons and daughter-in-laws, Ralph and Marti Grindstaff of Maryville, TN and Bill and Connie Grindstaff of Maryville, TN. 15 living grandchildren; Regina (McCroy) Garner, Sherry (McCroy) Self, Scott McCroy, Tamra (Potter) Walker, Kelly (Potter) Simerly, Tammy (Grindstaff) Dodson, John Nicholas Grindstaff, Jr., Michelle (Grindstaff) Nicholson, Gail (Grindstaff) Matesavec, Lori (Grindstaff) Little, Amy (Grindstaff) Thompson, Angel (Duncan) Smith, Ruth Ann Whaley, Donnie Ervin and Brian Ervin. 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She will be missed by all of her friends and especially her loving children, “We love you Mom”. Funeral services will 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 27th, 2008 at McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel with Rev. Adrian Jones officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:00 pm Wednesday at Grandview Cemetery for the interment. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 pm Tuesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church
