Virginia Christopher Davis

Virginia Christopher Davis, born January 13, 1931, died April 27, 2009 at a nursing home in Chattanooga, TN. She was preceded in death by husband, Alvin V. (''Bunt'') Davis and son, Michael Steven Davis. Virginia began work at age 13 in an Alcoa drug store and worked until she was 70, then immensely enjoyed her retirement. She worked for over 30 years at The University of Tennessee as secretary in the Biochemistry, Biology Coordination and Freshman Biology offices. She graduated from Alcoa High School and Knoxville Business College. She often said she ''collected people'' and loved to meet and make new friends. She loved the Smoky Mountains and the Florida beaches. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alcoa, TN. Survived by son, David Davis and daughter-in-law Wanda Lacey Davis of Belton, SC,; daughter, Maria Davis Derrick and son-in-law, Mark Derrick of Chattanooga, TN; sister, Carolyn Clabough and brother-in-law, Gene Clabough of Manchester, TN, and special friend, Gene Lee of Parkersburg, WV. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Davis officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Grandview Mausoleum for the entombment service. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. The family would love to hear memories and stories of Virginia at the service.
