Wanda Ruth Mashburn Whitehead

Wanda Ruth Mashburn Whitehead, age 78 of Maryville passed away July 22, 2023, at her home after a battle with cancer. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She participated in basketball and swimming at Carson-Newman College. She played softball on the church team. She retired from Delta Airlines and later from World Travel. She was an avid Lady Vols Fan. If she knew or even just met you, she loved you and thought you were “beautiful” or “gorgeous.” And she meant it; she was your biggest fan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Juanita Mashburn; brother, Albert Mashburn.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Whitehead; children, Lori Hunt, and Chris (Cindy) Whitehead; grandchildren, Jessica Elmore, Trace (Ashley) Elmore, Ethan Barnett, Kirsten Barnett; great-grandchildren, Emma Lane, Hayden Lane, Reese Ogle, Calderd Elmore; brother and sister-in-law, Ed (Sandy) Mashburn; sister-in-law, Jane Mashburn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Linda Whitehead; several nephews, nieces and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Hopewell Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.  The family requests casual dress.
