William E. Keithley Jr.

William E. Keithley, Jr. December 29, 1915 to December 26, 2013, passed away on December 26, 2013. The long life of William E. (Bill) Keithley, Jr., came to a peaceful close at Shannondale of Maryville, just three days before his 98th birthday. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William E. Keithley, Sr., of Dixon, Illinois, and was married to the late Lydia Bruce Tilley of Memphis. A graduate of the University of Illinois, he served in the Pacific during World War ll. He retired as nurseryman for Bowater Paper Company in 1982 and was a long-time member of Maryville First Baptist Church. In retirement, his favorite pastimes were reading, music, and travel, and for many years, he was active in Rotary and the American Diabetic Association. To his family and many friends, he was a fine story teller and an excellent whistler. He is survived by three children, Richard Keithley of Statesboro, Georgia; Carol Keithley Goodwin and her husband Robert of Newport News, Virginia; and Ginger Keithley Klein and her husband Vic of Paxinos, Pennsylvania. He also leaves behind his older sister, Miss Retta Jean Keithley of Dixon, Illinois, and much-loved grandsons, Adam Keithley Klein and his wife Becca and William Grant Klein. Visitation will be at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 29, 2013. The funeral service will be at McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 30, 2013, with burial immediately following at Grandview Cemetery. Rev. Dixie Lea Petrey will officiate. Memorial gifts to the American Diabetic Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
