Wilma "Carolyn" Trentham

Wilma “Carolyn” Trentham passed away peacefully on January 25, 2023.

A kind soul who tried to make everybody feel like somebody. Born November 21, 1936, to Virgil and Eunice Shelly Burchfield of Cades Cove, she was proud of her mountain heritage. She especially loved taking her Aunt Jessie to the Cove before her passing. She retired in 1998 after working 24 years in UT pediatrics and NICU with the babies she adored. Loving to travel, she visited all 50 states, several countries and cruises making many friends along the way. She never met a stranger, loved bluegrass, her 1955 Everett lunch buddies, going to Vol games, wearing hats and visiting nursing home residents in her retirement. After a lifetime membership in Cades Cove Memorial Baptist Church, she joined Old Piney Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir and her church family. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Merritt Trentham; son, Jeff Best.

Survivors include brother, Carlos Burchfield; daughter, Susan (Ronnie) Dunlap; several brothers and sisters in law and “like a sister” Edica Jones. Thanks to Trisha Evans, Pat Anders, Florence Holsonback, Debbie Teffeteller, and Misty Brown for their support. Also, to cousins, Pam, Lynn, and Betty Seaton whom she loved. A special thanks to the staff of Blount Senior Care (Dr. Kevin James) and Liberty Assisted Living for their loving care.

Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects from 9:00 AM- 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 29, 2023, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 30, 2023, at Cades Cove Memorial Cemetery (Duncan Rd.) for a graveside service with Pastor Rex Everett officiating.
