Alden E. Stuart

Alden E. Stuart of Maryville, Tennessee passed away on November 19, 2018 at the age of 84. He was born in Dexter, Maine, the son of Elwood and Verna (Bean) Stuart. He was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Viola Stuart, sons Mark and his wife Christy Stuart, Gary and his wife Beth Stuart, Stephen Stuart, daughter-in-law Mary Stuart, step-son David Michaud and his wife Carol, step-daughter Corinne Zambarano, and numerous grandchildren and step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Beth Stuart, son Douglas A. Stuart, grandson Douglas A. Stuart II, and granddaughter Sara Anne Stuart. Alden graduated from Hartland Academy, Husson University with a B.S. in Accounting, and The University of Maine with an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration. He was the Controller of Barrington College in Rhode Island from 1958 to 1967, and he held many positions at the University of Maine (Orono) from 1967 to 1990. At the time of his retirement, he was the Assistant Vice President for Administrative Services. Alden then became the Vice President and Treasurer at Maryville College in Tennessee in 1990 and retired in 1997. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Husson University, Bangor, ME. At Aldens request there will be no local service. There will be a graveside service at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Cambridge, Maine at the familys convenience.
