Avery Mills, age 92 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010. Graduate of Everett High School and longtime member of Broadway Baptist Church. A veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in World War II, retired from the State of TN (Alcohol Beverage Commission), former Sheriff of Blount County and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Willodene Gibson Mills; parents, Rosa Veal Mills and Aaron Mills; brothers, Roscoe and Floyd Mills. Survived by daughter, Rosalie Rogers of GA; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Raymond O. Smith, III of Maryville; grandchildren, Lori Rogers Jackson and Kim Rogers Schwendinger of GA, Laura Smith Wheatley and Aaron Raymond Smith of Maryville; great-grandchildren, Brett Belk, Trey, Regan and Seth Jackson, Ashley, Aaron and Annie Schwendinger all of GA, Elizabeth Wheatley of Maryville; brother, Harold Mills of Maryville; niece, Shirley Mills Trotter of Maryville and nephew, Jack Mills of Knoxville; and all the loving members of the Otha A. Gibson, Sr. family. Much appreciation to his extended family, Chad (Boss Man) and Polly Evans for their exceptional love and care. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bob Brown officiating, assisted by Rev. Tony Collins and Rev. David Webster. The interment service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7:00 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
