Bobby "Bob" Lee Mize

Bobby “Bob” Lee Mize, 93, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Maryville, TN.

Bob was born August 12, 1932, in Blount County, TN to the late Beecher Mize and Vola Farmer Mize. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth “Lib” Wilkinson Binkley Mize. He was a long-time member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Maryville, TN and lived his faith daily. Bob was a USVBA Volleyball Official, College Football Official, avid golfer and passionate Volunteer fan. He was a constant source of encouragement for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, supporting them in all their endeavors.

After graduating from Maryville College and attending graduate school at the University of Tennessee, Bob began a career of service, leading programs at YMCA’s in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and South Carolina before transitioning to the field of higher education. Bob served as vice president / director of development at Tusculum College, Brevard College, and Louisburg College before retiring and returning to his childhood home in Maryville. He continued to serve as a volunteer with the Maryville Police Department and the Cancer Center of Blount Memorial Hospital.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce Walls, Martha Boruff, Barbara Mize and brother Elmer Mize. He is survived by his sons Brad (Tami), Bart (Penny), Bret, and Blake Mize; and Kevin, Craig, and Tim (Kathy) Binkley. Bob also leaves behind many, many grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends that he loved dearly.

A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Broadway United Methodist Church in downtown Maryville, TN. Pastor Ron Fisher will officiate.
