Bruce Bristol ''Hoot'' Whitehead, Sr.

Bruce Bristol “Hoot” Whitehead, 83 of Alcoa, passed away January 11, 2012, surrounded by family. Member of Happy Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 50 year member and past master of Lodge 519 F&AM, retired from Vulcan Materials. A well known mandolin player and teacher, winning many awards in music contests. Recorded with various Bluegrass bands across the Southeast. Preceded in death by parents, Frank and Salome Whitehead; two brothers, Donald and Gifford. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Carrie Lou Lee Whitehead; son, Bruce Jr. and Cindy Collins; daughters, Vicky Hearon, Sherry Jo (Donny) Patterson; grandchildren, Aaron (Cindy) Woody, Yancy (Summer) Woody, Summer (Mark) Britton, Cody (Kendra) Hearon, Candace Patterson, Jordan Patterson; great grandchildren, Elijah Patterson, Leo Woody, Jack, Cooper, Colette Britton, Cash and Riley Hearon; nephew, Jeff Whitehead. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Beecher Whitehead and Rev. Ralph Lee officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Happy Valley Missionary Baptist Cemetery for the interment service.
