Watt, Bruce Earl age 92 of Maryville died Sunday April 21st. He graduated from Greenback High School and the School of Banking of the South. He served in the Navy and was a long-time member of Highland Presbyterian Church and Alcoa Kiwanis. He retired from First American Bank after 40 years in banking. Bruce was a people person who loved to help others. He was a story and joke teller. He was an avid hiker, a devoted gardener, a skilled wood worker, a civic minded community leader and a faithful church member. In addition, he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Truly, a stranger he never met. He is preceded in death by his parents Rev. Floyd and Pauline Watt, sister Mary Flaherty and brother-in-law Ted Flaherty, brothers-in-law J.P. Marion, Gene Bright, Herman Fields, and Leonard Presley, and sisters-in-law Annie Bright and Trudy France.
Survived by sons Floyd Watt and wife Merlyn, John E. Watt, Ruth Watt-Yates and husband Michael Yates; his grandchildren Julia Sullivan and husband John, Max and Ellie Yates, brother Rev James Watt and wife Joan, Sisters-in-law. Wanda Sunderland (Ron), Linda Presley and Wanda Lynn Marion, many nieces and nephews and one great grandchild Brady Sullivan.
The family would like to express they’re thanks to Morning Pointe Westland and UT Medical Center Hospice for the excellent care they gave Bruce.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 with a reception after on Saturday April 27th at Highland Presbyterian Church in Maryville with Rev. Dr. Stephen Yates officiating.
